a melancholy tale of the eve's eve of CNY

So there I was, finished with my last minute CNY shopping, waiting at the main door for HS to pick me up.It was a chilly evening, but I was sweating from the heat of the anticipation of the shopping before CNY.

After 1o mins of waiting, along came a woman in her 30s with a lookindaold JC Penny bag. She took out a cigarette and started to smoke. Little did I know that the shopping bags that I was holding was catching her attention.

She started talking to me.

"Isn't it good to have money to shop?"
I nodded feeling weird that she will ask such question.

" Bought a lot of things, dint ya?"
I nodded again, smiling at her, at the same time observing her.

"I have bills to pay, and I have a couple of kids to feed." she paused and asked" You don't have kids do ya?"
I shook my head and started thinking maybe she want me to offer her some money or so.

" What did you buy? JC Penny has some really good sales."
I told her that I bought some shirts for me and HS for Chinese New Year.

"Oh! So it's like the Christmas that we celebrate?"
I nodded again.

She took a puff on her cigarette and introduced herself ." My name's Lisa."
"Niki. Nice to meet you."

I can see the worries of paying the bills and raising up kids with limited cash flow. I see melancholy in her eyes.

And HS came.
"Good to meet you, Lisa. Have a good evening."
She waved.

I feel guilty for spending the money on myself. I should have spend it to those who need it.
What's the big deal of New Year?
God Bless everyone.

Idol. Snowing. CNY

The new season of American idol is back! With a panel of meaner judges and a whole bunch of weirder auditions. Damn, I really enjoy this show because you get to realize how much weirdos exists and it's like everywhere.Haha..but really, this show is for those really damn free people like me. Good source of entertainment.

Finally, Winter's here in Buffalo....what the hell with the weather the past few weeks...I mean its nice and all, but it is so not winter. Finally there's today which is like -15 C, that is more like Buffalo. Tres Bien. ^^

CNY is two days away and there I am, without a reunion dinner, need to work like dog in the dining hall(these bloody caucasians love to put us asians into shit positions that they hate a lot, probably whole day salad,AGAIN, to hell with you kathie) and no new shirt to wear. What to do, life goes on. I start to miss home. I wanna go home.

Was complaining that people tend not to update their blog often...and I only realize that I am one of those bloggers that never update daily. I should have really...

Something that got me really excited recently is that HS got into grad school. which literally means that I have someone to play with, and talk to; Adam has someone to complain to, and grocery will not be a problem anymore...HAHHAHAHAHA...that's so good. What else..my classes are okay. Research methods kinda suck and I kinda miss my Geology101 lecturer Sean Benett, because he was so fun. Oh...I changed session for my ESL 408, mainly's because I love Mr Batchelder dearly and want to take his class, partly is because I am pissed and sick of seeing some people there.

What else...oh I finished American Next Top Model season 5. Nicole deserves to be the model. I read some forums saying that she's such an arse and she shouldn't have won. They wanted her to win from the start because she's the perfect white girl. Nik couldn't have possibly won because she's a mix black and a black has just won the last season. Hmmm...that might be true, because Nik has equally the same potential as Nicole. But then...really...I prefer Nicole, her looks are so flexible. So shut up all of you who hate Nicole. She deserves to win this title.

I have gained pounds since summer..like so much pounds that fitting into my jeans is something toturing already...Gotta really cut down on meals and sugar and fast food.

seven years itch.

sev·en-year itch
-noun
Definitions:

inclination toward sexual infidelity: an inclination toward sexual infidelity, popularly believed to begin after seven years of marriage.

Hmm.. Do you think it still applies nowadays? If it does, why does people get married and divorce in less than half a decades time? Why?Why can't I ever feel like I am in love for more than a year? That's shit..maybe mine is call a year's itch.

Learnt something really interesting today... do you know why all the time when you call those service companies they take like shit lot of time and make you wait like a doink only they connect you from the computer generated message to the operator? This is because the operator is not based in the country (USA) itself, in fact these operators are people who are specially trained to speak accented english ( and then they are allocated to different area according to their slang) and are based in mostly third world countries. Why is this so? Because it is gazillion cheaper to hire a manggali in bangladesh than hire some mat salleh in based in boston. I find it really interesting...I tot you might like to be informed about this and not to get mad at the operators again.

A not so cold winter day's tale.

A rainy freezing day in Buffalo town.
A Hongkie girl, who apparently is quite pretty, stood by me using the pc.
Then she started calling someone.
The bf I assume.
And she started yelling in cantonese.
"Nei hai gong mat ye a?"
"che shi hai nei go tou, ngo dim sek ye a?"
"NEI FAI TIT LEI LA"
then she stormed off.
-The end-

Moral of the story: pretty girls get pissed off easily.

On marriage, life and so on.

By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

-Socrates, Greek philosopher in Athens (469 BC - 399 BC)

So you got hitched, and only found that he's not the one. So? File for divorce.
So you screwed your partner, and got junior. So? End your studies and raise a family.
So you play cards, and got nice cards to play, and you lose. So? Slam the table and say Ridiculous.

That's life.

DimSum. Shopping. 2006

First and foremost...Happy New Year!!

What I did on the eve was great. We went to Rochester which is an hour plus trip for some heavenly DimSum. Then we went further down to Waterloo to outlet and did some new year shopping. I bought some really cool and cheap shirts from Banana and BCBG. I am now craving to wear one and go out to play. Too bad everyone is broke after yesterday's countdown cum makan trip and I so want to eat a crabcake sandwich in Ruby Tuesday...aih...two of us is no fun.

But anyway, its new year. Leave all of 2005 behind and look ahead of this year. Good luck folks.
